Ca’ Momi Wine Tasting

We tasted two wines from the Napa Valley from the Ca’ Momi winery, founded in 2006 and run by three Italians in the Carneros region.

Ca’ Momi wines represent the best of both worlds. Napa Valley fruit carefully crafted by the heritage and obsessive care of Old World wine making. The fog influenced Napa Valley is home to many of California’s premium wineries where some of the most highly prized vineyards are planted.

We kicked off with a luxurious lightly oaked full bodied wine with aromas of ripe peaches and hints of butterscotch. On the palate were intense notes of pineapple, citrus and pear with caramel and vanilla from four months ageing in French oak. A refreshing acidity balanced the creamy mouthfeel with the fruit flavours lingering on the finish. Great with roast chicken or your Thanksgiving turkey.

Napa’s 2013 vintage was the finest in decades and this wonderfully rich and complex Cabernet Sauvignon with notes of black cherry, cassis, bitter chocolate and spice certainly lived up to it.

A soft palate with ripe tannins and intense black fruit combined aromas with spicy and herbaceous flavours which lingered on the finish.

Try alongside a spicy beef stew, ribeye or our Chef’s special this week, slow cooked braised ox cheek.

Sadly this wine from the 2103 vintage is coming to an end. But fear not, the exciting 2018 is already with us. A complete knockout with phenomenal potential. Some of the best wines Napa has seen in almost a decade.

They have a finesse, an elegance and silky tannins unmatched in recent memory.

Stay safe and take care
